The Mass Air Flow sensor, commonly referred to as the MAF sensor, is a critical electronic component in modern fuel-injected engines. Its primary responsibility is to measure the exact volume and density of air entering the engine. The engine control unit uses this data to calculate the precise amount of fuel needed to achieve the ideal air to fuel ratio, typically fourteen point seven parts air to one part fuel, for optimal combustion.

When the MAF sensor functions correctly, the engine runs smoothly, delivers strong acceleration, and achieves maximum fuel efficiency.
